    I have changed a few settings on my services after reading the 3D article http://www.3dspotlight.com/tweaks/winxp_services/services-3.shtml
    for tweaking. I am now missing a few services that were listed before I started tweaking. Such as Alerter, Computer Browser, Messenger,Workstation. I know some of these aren't very important but some are. Either way, why don't they show up any more, where did they go? Doug

    Do u know what u were doing by changing the services? If not u were changing the programs that run on your computer when it first boots up.
    I think what u have done is set the services like "Messenger" to manual or disabled.
    U need 2 return to the services dialog box:
    click "start" -> "run"
    Type "Services.msc"

    This will bring up the services dialog box... which u prob have already done.

    For "alerter" which should b the first service. double click on it and under "startup type" choose "Automatic"
    For Messenger do the same, its under "Messenger"
    etc...
    Hope this helps.
