XP user account login troubles

When I select the administrator account name to enter the password, no blinking cursor is available in the balloon to enter password with.

Is this a common known or is there something more serious going on?
How do I fix this?

Two other accounts are on the system but, with no passwords.
I had this same problem before I reformatted.

It doesnt do this on every attempt. I would say an average of 3 out of 5 times it will happen.

Number of possibilities here.

Since you reformatted and re-installed, you may not have downloaded all the the Windows Updates. It does sound like a software bug. Go to Windows Updates and check for any requried updates.

Next, why did you reformat & re-install? If it was due to spyware, you may have it again if you didn't install anti-spyware. I have a lot of customers who get spyware again because they don't use anti-spyware even after I set it up for them! Make sure you're using the following 3 anti-spyware utils:

• Ad-Aware 2007
• Spybot Search & Destroy
• AVG Anti-Spyware

All are free.

I reformatted cause it's something I try to do at least once a year.

pretty sure I'm up to date. I'll go look again.

got the top two, but not the AVG. I did have it before the reformat.
thanks, would like to hear more possibilities.

No one else has never had this trouble?
