Yuzu developer pays Nintendo $2.4 million to settle lawsuit, ceases all Switch and 3DS...

Unlike Sony and MS, Nintendo is in the habit of turning a profit off their hardware from day 1, it is not a loss leader.

So Nintendo is making money off the switch, it is making 100% of the money off its 1st party IPs, and it is likely taking a nice 30% cut off of any 3rd party game on its system as well.

Also, as an old school Japanese corp, they might be approaching things more from a sustainable business perspective rather than the traditional American MBA mindset of growth every quarter at all costs. Having some scarcity of their product to drive demand is a good thing.

Thankfully, Yuzu was open source, so somebody will hopefully pick up the bones and keep running. Perhaps someone in russia or china that doesnt care about western legal threats."
