Zotac's RTX 3000 Ampere lineup looks to have leaked

I know right. I have a 2070 Super and playing Metro Exodus at 30-40 fps reminded me of the old days when 30 used to be the ‘playable’ threshold. I’d like to replay the game at a smooth 60 with all the bells and whistles at max.
30 fps was the playable threshold only on consoles, not on PC. On PC we've always tried to match the frame rate to our monitor's frequency and the "unplayable" limit was and is 60 fps.

Suckers will be buying the 3090 on release. As usual.

I used to be one, those days, until 980Ti.
I mean, everyone who bought a 1080Ti on launch got it at basically it's cheapest price. The 2080Ti didn't really drop throughout it's entire life span either.

Buying Nvidia's highest end GPU at launch I see no issues with unless AMD comes out with something to compete which, as much as I would like them to, they just won't. So the price won't change.

If that's what you want,s ure. I disagree on buying the halo cards at all. I got a vega 64, used, for $250, and it still plays every modern game perfectly at 1440p. If you still game at 1080p as many do even the RX480 still performs well. Games today target ever higher resolutions, and if you dont upgrade your monitor you can get away with way less powerful GPUs.

Imagine thinking below 60 FPS is "unplayable". Growing up I was lucky to see 20 in most games with whatever hand me down family PCs I had access to. Didnt stop me from playing though.

Even at 30 FPS PCs offer a superior level of performance to consoles, with better details and better input methods.

Going to have to disagree on this. Yes matching the FPS to the monitor was certainly a good thing to have but 20 years ago running a game at 60 FPS was rare and needed some serious kit. Many CRT monitors only went up to 60Hz anyway, so you’d have to lock the game to your monitor’s absolute maximum refresh rate.

30 Was generally the target because, as you pointed out, this was what consoles and TVs ran at and was/is perfectly playable.
