What I wound up doing is firmly pressing the heatsink onto the die and removing the extra AS5. This is a really close picture i took of the die though.

I don't know, but I personally don't like the idea to spreading AS5 like that, its just way too much.



Not to mention that given its conductivity, if the excess gets anywhere it should't, there goes your G80.... (yes, I note that you wiped it off, but what if...)

didn't you read the instructions? the instructions definitely state you shouldn't spread from corner to corner. its more effective as a coolant if you spread it directly over the cores.
