This is a quantex (hence the name), i don't know the model, but it use to be a top-of-the-line gaming computer in it's day.

This speed demon is outfitted with a 75mhz pentium 1 with 16mb of ram, 504 mb hd, 2mb S3 trio video card (max resolution 1600x1200!!), win 95, creative sound blaster, 56k modem, (added) lite-on 40x cd-rom.

And it actually plays videos!!!

I really like this, not sure why. It looks like it belongs in 2003, but first seen in like the mid 90's

I'm not sure a 2MB card could go all the way up to 1600x1200, even in 16 colors. ;-)

Keep the case and put a good Antlon 64 Mobo in it, an 8800GT, and mod some fans In. I did that with my P4 Northwood, put it in 95 Case, put a 6800GT in, and another gig of ram. Lol, I had to mod a few case fans in, it kept overheating.

I was thinking of doing that, but I won't until it completely dies. It dosen't use atx in the back, instead it has one port, a AT keyboard (big barrel style 4 pin), all the other ports are located next to the pci slots, or are pci slots. Also, it dosen't use a ATX style power supply (back then standard ATX psu's today were called slimline), this PSU is a huge 250W. Also, the case is friken HUGE on the inside, lots of room, need to modify the case to put fans on it. But i believe it was a prototype, because Quantex only used mobo's with ALI aladdin chipsets, this one has simple Intel and it has the 75mhz with a glued on heatsink, which was a basic processor used only in prototyping.

Time to get out a saw then? If the case is that big it should be easy to mod!

Ha, my old beast beats that, P1 133 MHz a woping 64 MB of ram, two hard drives totaling almost 5 Gigs of space a Voodoo graphics card with i think 8 MB of memory sound blaster audio, 8x CD-Rom and a 56k modem, a custom build that cost nearly 3 grand at the time including a 17" CRT. One of the most complicated things to put together ever.

i can still beat that, i have a compaq presario 4712, P1 166mhz mmx, 64mb EDO ram, 4mb S3 64trio vid card, 2x 3gb Quantum 5 1/4" hd's, 8X cd-rom drive, 56K isa modem, Revel TV500 tv tuner card. Its kinda cool with the old p1's, you can overclock them by changing the clock multiplier with the jumpers on the mobo, if you had a good hs+fan, you could run a originally 2X multiplier 100mhz p1 at 3x, ie it would run at 150mhz.

hey Quantex_rox

First off nive rig

I want to ask u if you had any issues running your vc 8600gt?

as I have same board rs482-M754 and I am wanting to buy a 8800GT

but am scared as mobo is PCIe 1.0a...is your Video Card the PCIe 2.0 version?

so did u have any issues with card or mobo?

I have not installed mobo in case yet

but have 2gb of ram 2satas (for Raid0) and really wanting someone to confirm that a 8800GT will run

did u have to flash VC bios or anything to get video card to work

do u think a 8800GT will just work no problem?

thanks man

and nice computer

The PCIe 2.0 8800GT is backwards compatible with PCIe 1.1 (I think that's what you meant), yes it will work either way as long as the slot is PCIe x16.

sakelover-

I have had no problems with my 8600GT, just popped it in, (didn't have to disable the onboard video,) and installed the drivers. As for PCI-E 16x 2.0, it is backward compatable with PCI-E 16x 1.0, so no worries there, it just won't be as high performance as if it was on a 2.0 slot.
