Sweet! I'm looking to do the same thing, setting up a server in my home to offload a bunch of files I rarely use from my main drive (installation files that I only use when I reinstall windows [which is actually quite often]). Anyways, I was going to set it up with my old comp case (stripped like these) but I guess I threw away my old RAM when I upgraded and built a new computer. I'm so ashamed.

Wait XP Pro has a minimum? Dang I wish someone would have told me. I have it running on a Pentium 166MHz MMX Toshiba laptop I use for bill paying. Hmmmm I wonder if this Vista RC1 I have somewhere, would run on there? Love the skeletal looks. I just gutted an old Presario 5100US that had a 880MHz Celeron in it. I always did like the look of the case. Very handsome expecially now without the Compaq logo on it! lol Now it's my new backup system with all new innards, and a Celeron D326.

minimum 500mhz block? There is no such thing that i heard of. The minimum system requirements of xp pro is 233mhz p2/celeron, 64mb ram, 2mb vram, 3gig hdd.

If you have had that compaq before, it was a 5900Z, that sound card was the one that was in it (sound blaster 16 pci,)
