Going to install a mod chip so I can install Windows 98 (Only 64MB shared DDR :P) on it (Notice Replacement HD?), Getting a SATA Laptop DVD drive and an adapter for PATA

Also working on an adapter for a VGA D-SUB out

This should hold me off until I get an ITX mobo and PSU

Looking onlne for specs...Ah good old WIKIpedia

733MHz Coppermine Mobile Celeron 180nm; 64*Gasp*MB DDR-200 (Keep in mind this is shared to the graphics too ), 20GB Maxtor DiamondMax 9, NVIDIA NV2A ASIC (Essentially a GeForce2 or 3);

Sadly they don't have any sound drivers for it so...no music or anything And I have to rig up some usb ports on the front for keyboards + mice (The controller ports = USB)

Yes, It is truly dead. Hard drive died and it has a thomson dvd drive.

Learned that newer ones have 128MB DDR(Could have installed Xubuntu if this was true for mine, mine is a 2001 release console)

Wow, Obie wan, I thought about this a while back but never really did it, due to not wanting to go through the hassle of the USB ports.

It wasn't that hard, just a bit of google and electrical tape did it!

Thats a newer one than mine. Mines got the 64mb ram (you can upgrade it, you can see the spots on the motherboard where the extra 2 can go, you need to desolder them from another xbox though,) and the GPU heatsink that doesn't have a fan on it. Took both heatsinks off and put on some AS5. Also, on the old ones, the controller ports were the same hookups as front usb headers, much easier to mod and put usb ports on them.
