I slapped this computer together in about 10 minutes for my cousin to have, its a simple computer, no gaming on it, (at least not new games.) Its got:

Socket 423 Pentium 4 1.7ghz
512mb (4 x 128mb) PC800 RAMBUS
expansion cards (from top to bottom,)
ATI radeon 64mb, 3com 10/100mb NIC, Sound blaster 16 PCI, Adaptec SCSI card
20GB WDC, 10.2GB Quantum fireball
Compaq Lite-on 52x/16x dvd-rom

Jeebus, Socket 423. Last I saw one was an old Dell Dimension 8300 with 512MB of PC1066 RDRAM! I can see the reason you need the fan. Does that ATi Radeon Happen to be an 8500 series, it looks like my 8500. What brand motherboard is it? And is that room full of PC's your acutal bedroom?

No, thats a ATI Radeon 7000 64mb, i forgot to put that in there. That motherboard is out of a HP vectra VL800, hp used Alpamayo motherboards instead of ASUS in the vectra line. And yes, that is my room, why theres only, 7 computers, 5 monitors, 7 keyboards, and random stacks and boxes of parts, then theres my closet...



And i took that scsi card out because it is apparently still made, and is worth about 400 dollars.

I remember, 5 years ago I still saw ATI 7000's at CompUSA. Does this mean you took apart your server and gave it to your cousin, cause it has the same specs.

yup, I retired my old server, well, my bro bought an old ibm server off of criagslist that has dual 933mhz Xeons, 1gb ram, and 18 SCSI hard drives.

Wait, you mean the server I have listed in my computers, because i have about 7 or 8 of those HP 1.7ghz Vectra VL800 motherboards in my closet, I retired the server, and took the video card out and sound card and hard drives, and put them in that computer for my cousin, still have my old server, just it dosen't have sound or video or hard drives, still have all 7 of those mb's, each have 512 mb of RAMBUS pc800, just need cases and hard drives for them.

Ya, i got it all for free, the Computer tech guy at my sister's boyfriend's dad's insurance company ordered 15 new hp vectra vl800's, and 9 of them came with the jumper settings mixed up. He said they just don't work, and was too stupid to use the warrenty, so he took the motherboards and cards out of the cases, scrapped the cases, and put the motherboards in a back room static wrapped for proper recycling one day, then i came along. I immediatly saw what was wrong, they have 10 dip switches that weren't properly set, so i "recycled" them for him, and the all run just fine, just need cases for them.

Ya, I know what you mean, you flip one wrong switch, and get the beep code for "destroy the cpu, fry the ram, ruin the hard drive."
