Got a Abit VP6 on ebay, has dual 1ghz p3 coppermines, bought a 512 stick of pc133.



Heres the catch, I put on the coolers, hooked everything up, and powered it on, then POP, followed by another POP. Two capacitors blew, going to have to replace them.

Holy ****. Please correct me if I am wrong but your mother board has two cpu slots?! That is amazing.

Heh, having a single chip with multiple cores is actually more amazing... that sucks about the capacitors though. Where do you find replacement parts for such old hardware? Can you just solder on any matching caps?

Ya you can use any capacitor that is 16v 1000uf. That motherboard only has 2 socket 370 1ghz processors. Supports up to 2 1.4ghz tulatin-s processors. So, in theory it would be like a dual core 1.4ghz processor, or a 2.8ghz p4. Not so much the speed I'm after, but because it's a dual processor board! Come on, it's cool!
