I did this to my *New* laptop, while I was installing windows XP. I was really afraid it was going to overheat: The bottom of the heatsink was practically scalding at one point. This seemed to help though =)



In case you were wondering, that weird metal thing attached to the fan is a 12 volt powersupply my grandfather built.

You... ghetto and then WATERcooled a laptop? WATERCOOLED? AWESOME!

Wait... why would you do that? Is it that powerful of a computer? I mean, seems like a lot of trouble to go through to make an old laptop work...

No, it's not powerful. Actually it is a complete hunk of junk:

PIII 1000mhz, 256 mb ram



Basically I did it for fun. And I didn't even do that to make it work. It worked perfectly well with the air cooling, albeit very noisily.
