Radeon X700, ATI's answer for the mainstream

ATI plans to unveil a new Radeon family before the end of the year that will compete with NVIDIA's recently introduced GeForce 6600 family, it is supposed to bring competitive performance in an affordable, PCI Express-native package. Radeon X700 cards are said to be nearly identical to current X600 offerings but boosting 4 more enabled pipelines (8 in total) which should account for a considerable performance increase.
