The PlayStation Portable, or PSP, goes on sale in Japan on December 12th. Prices for the United States and Europe are still undecided, although overseas sales are being planned for the first quarter of next year. However, pricing has been decided upon in Japan. The new PSP will come in at 19,800 yen ($186). Ken Kutaragi, Executive Deputy President in charge of Sony's game business, expressed the opinion that the devices were extremely good value for money at this price point. The device, which uses a new disk format, is being marketed not just as a games platform, but also as a handy mobile device for watching movies and listening to music.
