Recently, we were reporting that Microsoft have recalled 14.1m Xbox cables, after it was discovered that some small number of the cables have a potentially dangerous electronic fault. Microsoft is now actively promoting this recall, and we have some more details.

-Microsoft have issued the recall on the power supply cords for over 14 million Xbox game consoles due to a possible fire risk with the power cord.

-The problem is with those cords made before 13th January 2004 in Europe and those manufactured in other regions before the 23rd October 2004.

-Microsoft say users should visit xbox.com and order a new cord for free, which will take around 4 weeks to arrive.

Microsoft have been keen to point out that this is a preventative measure, and that it is unlikely that anyone is in any immediate danger. Nevertheless, you should return such a cable (if you have one) immediately for a safe replacement.
