Skype customers will be able to get global Wi-Fi access at affordable prices thanks to Skype and Boingo Wireless's work on bringing "Skype Zones." Unlimited Skype Wi-Fi access is currently available for $7.95 a month or $2.95 for a 2-hour connection, and with 18,000 hotspots set up already its looking like a possibly very successful venture even from the start.

Boingo CEO David Hagan reckons the partnership with Skype "demonstrates the evolution of public-access Wi-Fi to include VoIP and other value added applications by allowing greater connectivity and productivity on the move."
