I really do want to buy this when it goes on the market. I really think the price on it though will make me wait a bit longer after it has been released. You know, just until the price goes down. That's what happened with DVD drives, and that's what probably will happen with these. Oh well, It's good to see that they actually completed the thing, that's a big step forward. |

This is a great step for Samsung. Samsung is a huge company, and they produce many technological devices. With the inclusion of the Blue ray disc drives, it should make Samsung higher than expected sales, in 2006. |

seems like Blue Ray is going to be mass produced in 2006. Let's hope that the price will drop to the affordable and that it will work out with HD-DVD. |

PC BR recorder will be released at $1000 a piece. And the media will be very expensive too, predicted at more than $10 a piece, because they have to make new machine to produce the media. HD-DVD, on the other hand, will be released at lower price, with media predicted at less than $1 a piece, because current DVD media manufacturing machine can be used to produce HD-DVD media.I'm content with a DVD writer right now (and for the foreseeable future too) |

Blu-ray is most definitly the better of the two emerging technologies. (Blu-ray is going head-to-head with HD-DVD.) Blu-ray is able to hold way more memory than the HD-DVD, but Blu-ray discs are an entirely new format, while the HD-DVD is the same size and has the same look as a normal dvd. This means that HD-DVD players will be able to be backwards compatible and will play your collection of regular dvds. Blu-ray discs have built on plastic coverings, which is a great idea, but makes the disc look rather big and bulky. I want Blu-ray to win the new format war because of it's ability to hold massive amounts of data, but I don't want to have to rebuy my current dvd collection on blu_ray discs. Hopefully they will come out with something that will enable you to watch regular dvds on a blu-ray machine. Good job Samsung, now get working! |

Well congrats to Samsung, I might just pick up one of these as long as they aren't too expensive. |

I am working more towards hard drive space being the answer for movies, but it will be nice having all that storage on a single disk. |

But if you didn't typo, then I don't see Blu-Ray recorder prices drop enough to where I can ever afford it. |

I’ve been satisfied with every Samsung product that I can recall, so I’m glad they’re at the forefront of this exciting technology. I know Blu Ray doesn’t nearly measure up to HVD, but it’s more than acceptable for every-day backup purposes. As for the implications of Blu Ray being used for commercial films, I’d guess that HD-DVD is more feasible for the time being. |

http://www.playfuls.com/news_0855_Samsung_Preps_Blu_ray_ rives_for_PC_.htmlYes, samsung does seem to be on top of things. Well good, i hope that Blue-ray and Hd really put it to each other. Compettion will encourage them to make better products, nad yes, i am definently for blue ray. At the moment i don't think i could use 50gigs of disk space....but mabye 25....and besides, "blue-ray" sounds really cool. Also, i don't really care much about the way HD is doing things, mabye a little more qualtiy, but so what? |

WOW. This is really great news from Samsung. Way to go SAMSUNG!!!I wish I'll be able to afford a Blue-ray drive in the near future, as prices are going to be pretty high.I've heard prices gonna be something around $800 for an internal BD-RW for the PC and about $1100 for an external unit for the living room. 8-o |

Don't be too concerned about the $1000 price tag. DVD writers started off in that neighborhood too. They come down quickly once production ramps up. This is the price you pay for early adoption. Or you don't pay and wait for the technology to settle down. Me - I'll probably wait a year or so and see what shakes out. Someone will build a universal player, though it does start to get crowded in that box with two, three, or four lasers (while CD, DVD and HD DVD all use red lasers they all have different pit sizes and depths).Regards,Chris |
