Microsoft to bring Xbox 360 to India

Microsoft is expanding the reach of the Xbox 360, this time announcing that they will be releasing the console in India. As soon as mid Ocotober, people in India may see it for around $439 (19,990 rupees), significantly more than the cost of the same console in the U.S., which seems a bit strange, though it does include a game with it. The market in India is definitely there, with an estimated 1.6 million game players, and Microsoft hopes to offer it in 1200 stores in India. Assuming they launch early enough, it may help them achieve their goal of 5 million consoles sold this summer. Originally, the Xbox did abysmally poor in Japan, largely due to poor game selection, so it will be interesting to see if India responds differently with the console already having been in the market for so long.
