In a press release issued recently Sony announced that they will be extending guarantee time for eight Cyber-Shot models which have presented problems when working in warm and humid environments. The affected models are the DSC-F88, DSC-M1, DSC-T1, DSC-T11, DSC-T3, DSC-T33, DSC-U40, and DSC-U50. As it should be, the repair of the affected units will be free of charge for customers.

“Of the over 1 million models sold, Sony expects 4,000 could need repairs, the company said. Sony found similar defects in other digital and video cameras in October last year, when it discovered condensation could seep into the gadgets and damage the charge-coupled device, a chip used to capture images.”
