In a press release issued today, Toshiba announced the release of the first HD DVD Burner, the SD-H903A. As this is a first generation burner for HD DVD, the speeds aren't very impressive, at 1x for HD DVD, whether single or dual layer. It burns DVD and CD media as well, though the speeds are more mediocre than anything, due to this being such a new device. It can handle up to 30GB discs like a regular player and will be shown off at the CES next week. Initially, this is going to be sent off to OEMs only, for rebranding or system integration, so don't expect it to appear on shelves anytime soon. Pricing isn't available yet, though you can read the full press release in the comments section.
