Gawker pulls clips off YouTube
The ad-laced videos that were admittedly planted by Gawker on YouTube to promote their site have mysteriously disappeared. With over 50 separate clips submitted, Gawker began taking flak when people realized they were a form of guerilla marketing from the company. What made them especially controversial was the fact they had a lot of copyrighted material in them, much of it used without permission.
While seeing a home user do that wouldn't be surprising, an actual company with a brand name at stake would be assumed to know better. Regardless, Gawker isn't commenting on the situation other than the fact they admit it was a Gawker employee that was acting on their behalf when posting the clips.
