Apple sells its 100 millionth iPod
Apple announced today that the iPod has sold its 100 millionth unit. It seems just yesterday when the first iPod hit the market, but it has actually been five and a half years since that day. Apple started their press release by stating the iPod has made its place in history by becoming the fastest selling music player, and I am pretty sure they are right. The iPod has not found a worthy rival, despite efforts from big players like Microsoft and Creative Labs in recent years.
“At this historic milestone, we want to thank music lovers everywhere for making iPod such an incredible success,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “iPod has helped millions of people around the world rekindle their passion for music, and we’re thrilled to be a part of that.”
There are few, if any signs hinting that the iPod success will decline in the near future. Its position in the market has only been strengthen by the iTunes Store which has sold 2.5 billion songs, 50 million TV shows and over 1.3 million movies, according to Apple.

but then again that speaks highly of the level of user
satisfaction with the iPod.
