Citrix to announce aquisition of XenSource?

By Justin Mann

In even more interesting virtualization news, some sources are expecting Citrix to announce the acquisition of XenSource tomorrow. By far, an acquisition of this nature would give XenSource the financial backing it would need to compete with VMWare.

Citrix is no new player in this arena, having made a name for themselves as a provider of thin-client solutions for a long time. Virtualization is a step above thin-client, and could easily fit well within their existing business plan. Financial terms of the deal aren't disclosed, but if it does go off without a hitch they may indeed pose a serious threat to the newly-public VMWare.
