Slysoft claims Blu-ray BD+ crack almost ready

By Justin Mann on
Has the unbreakable Blu-ray BD+ DRM been broken? According to some, the technology has been defeated recently despite Sonys claims of it being a nearly impenetrable defense against “unauthorized” use.

While details are sketchy at best, the claim is that commercial Blu-ray duplication software could be out within the next two months. The details and methodologies of the defeat that Slysoft used to defeat the encryption aren't mentioned, though they did already prove that AACS-LA was crackable with earlier software that defeats HD-DVD and earlier Blu-ray protection schemes.

Of course, even if we do see all modern HD encryption being defeated, it still leaves the manufacturers open to trying and force yet another standard down their collective consumers throats.
