GeForce 9 series graphics cards coming in February?
Nvidia isn’t resting on its laurels though. According to a report by DigiTimes, the company is bringing out its next generation GeForce 9 series of GPUs in February 2008. The first chip to rollout will be the D9E, a high-end product that adopts 65nm manufacturing – just like the recently released ‘G92’ chip. Similar to the new Radeon HD 3800 series, DigiTimes says that the GeForce 9 series will support DirectX 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1.
In addition, the site’s sources also said that a mid-range 55nm GeForce 9 part, codenamed D9P, will be released sometime in June 2008.

Nvidia is just rolling along. WOW. They have just killed the market with the 8800GT, the 8800GTS is to come out next month in December...and now their next gen cards in February.What would be interesting to find out is...how many of their own would be clients will now push off their video card purcahse until February? The the glut of games in the market which cannot easily be handled by the current crop of cards (games like Crysis, World in Conflict), how many people will push off their video card upgrade to get the next generation cards to finally play those games "as they were meant to be"? |

I'd be extremely impressed if the new 9 series would play Crysis on Very High with a constant 30-60fps. Because my 8800GTX obviously can't |

I would be willing to bet that if sales of the 8800 drop off because of the awaited 9 series, NVidia will drop pricing to refuel their sales. |
