While many enthusiasts and gamers alike were hoping for Nvidia to release a new generation high-end video card in time for the holidays, the company hasn't felt the pressure to get new parts out the door, basically because their GeForce 8 cards have faced little competition from ATI in the high-end graphics arena.
Nvidia isn't resting on its laurels though. According to a report by DigiTimes, the company is bringing out its next generation GeForce 9 series of GPUs in February 2008. The first chip to rollout will be the D9E, a high-end product that adopts 65nm manufacturing - just like the recently released 'G92' chip. Similar to the new Radeon HD 3800 series, DigiTimes says that the GeForce 9 series will support DirectX 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1.
In addition, the site's sources also said that a mid-range 55nm GeForce 9 part, codenamed D9P, will be released sometime in June 2008.
