AMD releases Catalyst 8.1 drivers
AMD has released another update to their Catalyst software suite, bringing the package up to version 8.1. This particular driver set includes bug fixes for a number of games including Call of Juarez, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, F.E.A.R., Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Oblivion, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., TimeShift, World in Conflict, and World of Warcraft.
It also introduces MultiView support, a feature AMD says provides “full hardware accelerated OpenGL rendering across multiple graphics adapters setup in an extended desktop display configuration.” The 8.1 Catalysts are available for Windows Vista 32-bit, Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows XP 32-bit, and Windows XP 64-bit, with a Linux version coming soon. AMD has also released a “hotfix” 8.1 Catalyst that addresses some recent issues that AGP Radeon owners have reported.
