Wikipedia receives $3 million grant
People sure love Wikipedia, and as you probably know many loyal readers love it enough that are willing to contribute not only with quality edits, but with their hard earned money as well. Today the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit that operates Wikipedia, announced they will be receiving a contribution from another foundation in the form of a $3 million grant.
The grant is intended to support a general boost to Wikipedia's reach and its technology infrastructure. The staged funding is to be rolled out over three years, adding on to the relatively small Wiki budget. Last year, the foundation claimed they had a total budget of only $4.6 million, quite a feat for one of the most popular sites on the Internet.
