A large number of Dell employees face an uncertain future as the PC giant prepares to close one of their manufacturing facilities. The plant located in Austin, Texas will shortly be cut in order to reduce operating costs, ironically the facility was designed and built to reduce costs in the first place. Once the doors are shut, Dell estimates that around 900 people will be left without jobs.

This is part of a larger reorganization plan that Dell announced last year would cut around 8,800 jobs or 10% of its workforce, and reduce its yearly expenses by over $3 billion. Earlier in the year, the company laid off another 1,000 when they closed a call center. Next in line seems to be Dell's division of financial services, which the company is looking to sell to a third party.
