Lenovo's Ideapad U8, Intel Atom inside

Better known for buying IBM's ThinkPad division a few years ago, Lenovo has continued the legacy of producing high quality laptops. But the Chinese PC maker's plans go beyond that. Powered by the recently announced Intel Atom low-power CPU, Lenovo showed the Ideapad U8 this week at Intel's IDF in Shanghai.

The device will sport a 4.8" touchscreen display and an "optical mouse" that is meant to work with your finger for one-handed operation. The very slick looking device is expected to provide EDGE or 3G connectivity as well. No clear word on whether Ideapad U8 will function as a cell phone though, or even if there are plans for bringing it outside of the Asian market.

I have embedded a promotional video, watch it after the jump.
