Asustek's stunning success with the Eee PC has left them and the competition wanting for more. For the second half of this year, one of their newer competitors, Acer, is expecting a huge boost in sales and shipment of their own low-cost PCs, with a total of six million units planned for deployment. They are estimating around one million units with a 12.1” display and a behemoth 5.5 million units using the 8.9” display.

They are in the same price bracket that Asus is in, the $300-450 mark, and they have a lot of experience in the mobile world already as one of the top-tier notebook manufacturers around. They definitely have a better chance of competing in this particular market than some other companies.
