Solid state drives are seen as the way of the future when it comes to storage for being significantly faster, quieter, and cooler-running than their HDD counterparts. There are a couple of things however that still need to be worked out, namely, capacity and pricing.

Well, looking to do their part in helping drive pricing down in the SSD market, Super Talent today unveiled the MasterDrive MX 30GB, 60GB, and 120GB SSDs, all of which are priced below the $1,000 barrier at $299, $449, and $649 respectively. Though their cost may still be out of reach for most to consider, these are definitely some of the most aggressively priced SSDs seen to date.

All of the drives use a SATA-II interface and contain multi-level cell NAND memory instead of the faster single-level cell technology, thus their write speeds of 40MB/sec are nothing to write home about. Read speeds, on the other hand, are quite respectable at around 120MB/sec.
