AMD to update its low-power CPU lineup
DigiTimes, citing their usual anonymous sources at motherboard makers, claims that AMD is planning to launch several low-power triple-core and quad-core CPUs featuring a TDP of 65W during the second half of this year.
According to the report, two low-power triple-core Phenom CPUs should hit the streets by mid to late August – the X3 8250e and 8450e – featuring core frequencies of 1.9GHz and 2.1GHz respectively, an L2 cache of 1.5MB and L3 cache of 2MB. The company is also expected to launch the low-power quad-core Phenom X4 9350e in the third quarter and another model in the fourth quarter, followed by their first 45nm quad-core CPUs in late 2008 and early 2009, targeting core frequencies between 2.3 and 2.8GHz.
