Logitech today announced that it will be acquiring headphone manufacturer Ultimate Ears for $34 million. The companies are waiting for approval of the all-cash deal, which is expected to close by the end of August.

Logitech already offers digital music speaker systems as well as speakers and headphones for PCs, but the acquisition will let it expand its portfolio with in-ear earphones for both consumers and professionals. Ultimate Ears’ offerings include plenty of mainstream headphones in the $40-250 range to headphones used by on-stage musicians and sound engineers that are custom-molded to the listener’s ears and can cost upwards of $1,000.
