HP, who has been among the top notebook vendors for the past few years, today announced three new business laptops, including the 12-inch, 'low budget' HP Compaq 2230s which starts at $999. The other two laptops are part of the EliteBook series and start at a higher price.

The notebooks part of the EliteBook series are the 2530p and 2730p. Both of these include an Intel Core 2 Duo ULV processor, solid state drives, and most wireless technologies. The EliteBook 2530p with only 3.19 pounds is HP's smallest and lightest business laptop with a built-in optical drive and starts at $1,499, whereas the EliteBook 2730p is a bit more expensive at $1,670, largely due to its convertible tablet design.

The HP Compaq 2230s is currently available through HP and its partners, but if you're interested in the 2530p or 2730p you will have to wait until early September.
