Google has been very busy lately, it seems. Not only did the company enter the browser wars with Chrome, they are also set to launch a new version of its Picasa Web Albums photo sharing site sporting a facial recognition feature that will help users label their photos with the names of subjects.

The facial recognition feature depends on users tagging photos of people with a new Add Name Tags function. Picasa will then provide a wizard to walk users through the ID process and serves up groups of photos with similar faces, so users can educate the program about who is who. While not flawless, the new feature certainly helps in the tedious process of typing in tags and captions to identify the people in photos.
