Legendary to acquire Epic Games?

Legendary Pictures, the financing studio behind 300 and The Dark Knight, is reportedly in negotiations to acquire videogame developer Epic Games – best known for Gears of War and the Unreal Engine used by a number of developers. The pair is already working closely on the upcoming Gears of War big screen adaptation, but now Legendary seems interested in venturing into the videogame market.

Epic president Mike Capps released a statement on the matter, unsurprisingly saying they “don't comment on acquisition rumors.” This doesn't really add weight to or detract from the rumors, but Capps certainly didn't rule out the possibility of a buyout. Frankly though, just by having a quick look at most, if not every, movie adaptation of a game or vice versa, one can tell that a merger is probably not good news for gamers.
