Lenovo introduces new notebooks, all-in-one desktop
Ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show this week, Lenovo is bolstering its consumer-targeted IdeaPad notebook line with a few new models and introduced an all-in-one desktop dubbed the IdeaCentre A600. On the notebook front, the company introduced its first 16-inch widescreen laptop – the IdeaPad Y650 – along with the smaller and lighter 15.6-inch Y550 and 14-inch Y450.
All three models have Intel Centrino 2 class CPUs, Nvidia graphics, and are configurable with up to 500 GB of hard drive storage space, up to 4GB of memory and optional Blu-ray drives. Other than screen size and of course weight, there are very few differences within the new laptops, and they all share the same modern black design with a copper-colored trim around the perimeter. The notebooks are expected to be available in March and priced starting at $1,199 for the Y650 and $829 for the Y550 or Y450.
Also, aiming at the Apple iMac and HP TouchSmart PCs, Lenovo introduced the IdeaCentre A600. This system consists of a built-in 21-inch display, a Core 2 Duo processor, optional ATI graphics card technology with DirectX10 support, an ATSC/HDTV tuner, and a slim chassis at just 27mm thick. The A600 desktop is Lenovo’s first all-in-one design and will run you at least $999 when it hits retail shelves in April.
