Netflix on Xbox 360 users hit one million
We already know the Xbox 360 is seen as key for Netflix growth but today Microsoft is actually sharing some numbers. According to the company, more than a million 360 owners have downloaded the streaming application via Xbox Live and some 1.5 billion minutes of content has been watched since the alliance was announced roughly three months ago.
They are not specifying how many of them are new subscribers but Netflix did announce recently that it saw stronger-than-expected quarterly results propelled by growth in its web video streaming service. Their streaming library totals 12,000 movies and TV shows right now, which is a really limited selection compared to the 100,000 titles they have on DVD and notably lacks most new movies.
Additionally Microsoft touted its own Video Marketplace, which saw downloads rise by 174 percent between December 2008 and January 2009, and has 17,000 pieces of standard and high definition content available.
