Foxconn competing for Apple netbook order?
Rumors of a Mac netbook are once again gaining traction as DigiTimes reports Foxconn is “in the running” among other competing firms to build such a device. Details are scant at the moment, but considering Foxconn is already responsible for making the iPhone 3G and other Apple hardware, it makes sense that the company would be tasked with producing this type of device if one is indeed in the pipeline. It is also possible that this order isn’t for a netbook, but for a next-generation iPhone or iPod touch instead.
Apple has publicly denied interest in the netbook market, questioning the usefulness of these devices in their current form, but has also said it has ideas of its own for the category. The report fuels earlier speculation about a 10-inch touch screen device and an intriguing ‘iProduct’ mentioned in the latest iPhone firmware.
