Acer looks set to further blur the lines between netbooks and notebooks, with the introduction of a new model that sports an almost identical chassis as its Aspire One 751 netbook but will belong to the more potent Timeline series. Rather than continue with the Intel Atom trend, the 11.6-inch Aspire Timeline 1810T will house a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Solo ULV SU3500 processor, coupled with up to 4GB of RAM and Intel's GS45 chipset.

The choice of chipset also means integrated GMA 4500 graphics, offering decent HD video decoding and the ability to pump video out through HDMI. While hard drive specs aren't mentioned, other features include Ethernet, S/PDIF, Wi-Fi (Draft-N), a battery rated for eight hours and optional 3G/Bluetooth 2.1. The machine will come with Windows Vista Home Premium, but buyers should be eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 7 in October.

Pricing or release dates are also unknown at this time, but the system cost is expected to fall between that of the Aspire One 751 netbook and the larger Aspire Timeline 3810T notebook - or somewhere between $380 and $600.
