A collection of former BioShock and Dead Space developers have come together to create a new take on first person narrative games that's currently seeking funding on Kickstarter.

In Perception, gamers assume the role of a blind woman name Cassie Thornton. Visions of a mysterious house have plagued the 29-year-old's dreams for years and after conducting a wealth of research, she discovered the real-life location of the estate.

Armed only with her cane and a smartphone, Cassie travels to and enters the abandoned Echo Bluff. There, she must solve the spooky home's mysteries by navigating its corridors and rooms using echolocation. Naturally, the estate and its haunting Presence don't like it when strangers come poking around.

There are no physical weapons to defend yourself; only sound and wit. When alerted, Cassie must simply run, hide and hope that the Presence doesn't find her.

If you're intrigued by unique horror games, Perception will no doubt draw you in.

The game's developers have largely been funding the project on their own thus far but they need some help to wrap everything up. They're seeking $150,000 on Kickstarter to make it happen. A pledge of just $20 is all that's needed to guarantee you get a digital copy of the game when it's ready in June of next year.

The campaign is off to a solid start with nearly $23,000 already raised but it still has a long way to go. With any luck (and 28 days remaining), this one will get the funding it needs to become a reality.
