Power Consumption & Temperatures

If you wanted stellar, this has to be the category to ask for it. At idle the GC230D used 62% less power than the entry AMD quad-core system, which is an astronomical saving. Then under full load the GC230D consumed 63% less power, making this entire platform no more power hungry than a typical house hold incandescent light bulb.

Keep in mind this is not the power consumption of the processor or the motherboard alone. Rather this includes power consumed by the entire system which includes a 2GB stick of DDR2 memory, a 500GB 3.5" desktop hard drive, a DVD-RW drive, and a USB keyboard and mouse. The exact same hardware was used to test the AMD quad-core system, so the primary difference is between the CPU/Motherboard combo.
