Synthetic Testing
The SiSoft2007 processor results show slightly better ALU performance for the AM2 processor and much better iSSE3 performance. Overclocking the Athlon64 3800+ to just over 2.7GHz increased the score by 15%, which is roughly the same gain in MHz that the overclock achieved. The Super PI results which are measured in seconds, slightly favored the AM2 processor as it made the calculations slightly faster. Overclocking the Athlon64 3800+ AM2 processor increased the 512K Calculation test by 23%. The PCmark2005 CPU test also showed a 15% performance gain when overclocking the AM2 processor!
