Benchmarks: Left 4 Dead 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Nvidia's newest budget card continued to disappoint in Left 4 Dead 2. Although we were testing with maximum in-game quality settings, we were expecting a bit more than the 39fps produced on average by the GeForce GT 240 at 1680x1050. The card was just 11% faster than the old Radeon HD 3850 and matched the Radeon HD 4670. However, it was also 17% slower than the GeForce 9600 GT and 28% slower than the 9800 GT.
Finally we get to see the Gainward GeForce GT 240 deliver some respectable results. While testing with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 at 1680x1050, the card was able to produce an average of 51fps, making it just 4% slower than the GeForce 9800 GT. It was about 13% faster than the GeForce 9600 GT, but unfortunately that was not enough to match the 61 frames per second delivered by the Radeon HD 4770.
