Benchmarks: Just Cause 2, Mass Effect 2
We used Just Cause 2's built-in benchmark tool, choosing the most demanding of three tests called "Concrete Jungle". Fraps was used to record the minimum frame rates and monitor the benchmark tool's coherence. The best in-game visual settings were selected with 8xAA/16xAF.
The Radeon HD 6970 bombed out when testing with Just Cause 2 as we saw an average of just 37fps at 1920x1200. This low frame rate was still a notch above what the HD 5870 could achieve, while it was 18% slower than the GeForce GTX 570, a disappointing result indeed.
Mass Effect 2
We relied on Fraps to measure performanced on Mass Effect 2. We recorded 60 seconds of gameplay from the level "Lazarus Research Station". Maximum visual quality settings with 4xAA/16xAF were used.
The Radeon HD 6970 makes a quick comeback when testing with Mass Effect 2 at 1920x1200 with an average frame rate of 86fps. This made it just 11% slower than the GeForce GTX 580 and 6% faster than the GTX 570, while it was 10% faster than the Radeon HD 5870.
