Overclocking Performance

Using the Catalyst Control Panel we were limited to a maximum core frequency of 950MHz which the Radeon HD 6970 was happy to accept. The memory frequency could go as high as 1450MHz though we ran into stability issues here and were forced to back down to 1440MHz.

This 8% overclock lead to a 7.6% increase in performance when testing with Call of Duty: Black Ops, 7.8% in Crysis Warhead and 7% when testing Battlefield Bad Company 2. Given more time and some better third party software we are keen to see exactly how far the Radeon HD 6970 will go.
