Nintendo DS demand out of control
Nintendo has a new problem, of sorts: their DS handheld is generating too much demand! Such as the interest in the dual-screen DS handheld gaming console which can download game data wirelessly, that Nintendo fear that if they can't meet the increased demand on launch (December 2nd), Japanese consumers who can't locate a DS will spend their handheld budget on a Sony PSP instead. After all, you know how impatient people get when they have money burning a whole in their pocket. Pre-orders for the Nintendo DS have reached 2 million units, double the company's initial expectations. This has led to the company closing closed down most Internet shopping sites selling the DS, and other closures came after just one day of order taking! Sales forecasts have now been revised to 4 million (from 3.5 million) in its current fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2005.
