GRR ATI Driver

I had Windows XP Home Edition and my ATI Radeon 9200 video card was fine, could play video games and everything perfectly but today i got Windows XP Pro. Now when i boot up it says the ATI panel cant come up (somthing like that) I downloaded the catalyst driver thing and when i try to install it a message comes up that says i need to set my device to a standard VGA setting (somthing like that, again) could anyone tell me how to do that? or if im doing somthing wrong?

which catalyst did you download, as this was a problem with that catalyst driver package released a month or so ago.

Take a look in device manager and tell us what you see.

Right click on "My Computer" and left click on the following things:

Properties \ Hardware \ Device manager

Poke around and see if there are any yellow exclamation point icons anywhere. Also, check your "Display Adapter" in Device Manager and see what is listed underneath.

And you should remove your previous drivers from control panel.

Start / Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs / ATI Catalyst

And also remove "ATI Control Panel".

Reboot your system afterwards and install your new drivers. Perhaps this will help.

After removing both drivers and control panel (as Rick said), but without restarting, do the following:

As said by Rick above:
Right click on "My Computer" and left click on the following things:

Properties \ Hardware \ Device manager

Then remove the ATI card, close device manager and restart you computer...

You should now be prompted for installing a new video card. You can now just abort it and run the driver installer... The card should be installed.
Reboot if prompted.

Then install the control panel and you should be set :)

These seem to do a good job of removing all traces of old installs :)
