NEC robot can translate Japanese to English

The robot, called PaPeRo – short for Partner Type Personal Robot – can also listen and see, NEC claims, and is intended to act as a "personal partner" for families.

It uses memory and compact translation software, and is programmed with 50,000 Japanese and 25,000 English words, allowing for what NEC suggests will be two way communication.
