dedicated servers from house, for cs

I've worked hard to get a dedicated server from my house to work with the counterstrike 1.6, but it never works, could somebody please tell me how to fix it.

(i've got t1 connection)

Do you have a router/firewall? If you have a router you need to setup port forwarding so that people can see and connect to the machine you have the game setup on. For CS I think the default port you need open is 27015 and you must forward this port to the IP of the machine with the dedicated server on it.

Do you literally have a T1 connection or is it just Cable/DSL rated at around 1.5Mbit/s? There is a difference FYI.

i dont have t1 but my clan leader has t1 and me and him couldnt figure out why our cs server wouldnt work. but thanks to ur help we might figure it out, thanks man! and yes its is 1.5Mbit\sec and i do know th differents... ;)
