Hey everyone.

I ran a virus scan with mcafee today and it detected thousands and thousands of virus in a folder named C/users/me/'

the folder was jus named ' and I cudnt seem to find it, but when i opened the location of one of the files it was a folder ( ' ) with jus millions of win rar files all names basically every film you can think of in the world!
mcafee detected them as all trojans. used up GBs and GBS of space.
anyone know why i cudnt see the folder in the folder it was in?
i had DISPLAY HIDDEN FILES turned on.

i probably sound confusing but let me no if ya no anyting about this.
thanx

Little info so I will assume you have XP - if not, then learn to give good info.

So, is C:\Users a folder you created?

No! Then turn OFF System restore and then boot to Safe Mode and delete it.

Then reboot, defrag, and run the 15 step prelim from here:

Go to user accounts in Control Panel
First confirm you are an Admin account
If the user "Me" exists, then depending on if you want any data from that account, just remove it.

Best not to turn off system restore when doing a fix just incase anything goes wrong, an infected restore point is better than none at all.

Vista uses \Users\Profilename while other Windows use \documents & settings\profilename :)

The interesting history is the Unix boxes used /user and the when to /home :)

[OFF-TOPIC]
And GoboLinux (http://www.gobolinux.org/) changed it to /Users

So is the modern OS market moving forvards or backwards? :D
